From water holes, to the ocean, to the backyard pool Sally Balfour has always had a fascination and even a little bit of paranoia about what could be living in the water. Perhaps this is because Sally Balfour is a kid born in the arid lands of Mparntwe, Alice Springs, thousands of kilometres from any ocean.
Her move to Darwin triggered a new fascination with water, brought on by the very real danger of living where crocodiles live! The ongoing discussions about whether there is a need for crocodile culling due to over population sparked Sally’s idea about a crocodile leaving the Top End to find a new, safe home.
Sally Balfour is the creator and voice behind Clara Crocodile. Balfour began this project in 2015, wanting to create something for both adults and children. Her debut children’s album is very different from her deeply personal, acoustic driven singles she released in 2020.
Clara Crocodile was made possible from funding from Arts NT as well as a successful crowd funding campaign in 2020.

Katie Harder
Katie Harder plays the Red-Backed Kingfisher and, like Clara, believes no matter how different we might be, we can all live in harmony.

Genise Williams
Genise Williams plays a hitch-hiking, snake. A well travelled, boot-scooting (if she had feet) country star.

Dave Crowe
Dave Crowe plays Gecko, the local Alien Expert seen watching the night sky out at Wycliffe Wells.

Ashley McDonell
Ashley McDonell plays Dog Dog. His energy and bounce and friendly nature will make you wish he was in your family!

Warren H Williams

Maggie Church-Kopp
Maggie Church-Kopp plays the lead in the Honey Ant choir. Her curiosity about a travelling crocodile gets the better of her - she needs to meet Clara

Miles Balfour
Imagine living in the desert and waking up in the morning to find a crocodile swimming in your pool? Miles Balfour sings about just that.

Darcy Davis
Darcy Davis is not only the producer but also one of the incredible musicians on the album. He is a human made up of joyful colours fused in creative flow.

Stephanie Harrison
Stephanie Harrison is a powerhouse of creativity and brings the most harmonic and fun backing vocals to Clara

Jessie May
Jessie May brings her 'country girl fresh' to the album with her incredible fiddle playing.

Scotty Balfour
Scott Balfour is the soothing honey vocals you can hear on a few of the tracks from Clara. He is, of course, Sally Balfour's dad.

Barry Skipsey
Barry Skipsey boasts an incredible booming baritone that brings the bass to the backing vocals.

Jamie Balfour
Jamie Balfour is a calming force with a tranquil voice. He is also dad to Miles and Quinn, Uncle to Luka and Callum and most importantly, Sally Balfour's brother.

Bill Davis
Bill Davis brought his wealth of knowledge in music production and kids music to the recording process of Clara. He was not only the voice of reason and wisdom for some of Sally's creative ideas, but also another beautiful baritone backing vocal. He is of course, also Darcy Davis's dad.

Ash Spurrell
Ash Spurrell brings the noise to Clara Crocodile. His punk style guitar and slapping bass complete the story with punch.

Quinn Balfour, Luka & Callum Spurrell
These little legends are the backing vocals for their big cousin Miles. They make sure you know how scary waking up to a crocodile in your pool can be.
